HOW TO EXPORT EMAILS AS A (.EML) FILE

APPLE MAIL

You may use this method if your email account is configured to Apple Mail as a client.
(This guide is using Apple Mail Version 9.3)

1. Open Apple Mail.
2. Click on the email message you wish to download.
   
   
   
   
3. Click on File. Then click on Save As... from the drop-down menu.
   
   
   
   
4. Ensure the "Format" is set to Raw Message Source. Then click Save.
   
   

OUTLOOK

You may use this method if your email account is configured to Outlook as a client.
(This guide is using Outlook for Mac Version 16.16.5)

1. Open Outlook.
2. Click on the email message you wish to download.
3. Click on File. Then click on Save As... from the drop-down menu.
   
   
   
   
4. Ensure the "Format" is set to Email Message. Then click Save.
   
   

THUNDERBIRD

You may use this method if your email account is configured to Thunderbird as a client.
(This guide is using Thunderbird for Mac Version 60.4.0 64-bit)

1. Open Thunderbird.
2. Click on the email message you wish to download.
   
   
   
   
3. Click on File. Then click on Save As > File from the drop-down menu.
   
   
   
   
4. Ensure the "Format" is set to All Files. Then click Save.
   
   

GMAIL

You may use this method if your email account is configured to Gmail as a client.

1. Log into the appropriate Gmail account
2. Open the email message you wish to download.
3. Click on the icon. Then click on Show original.
   
   
   
   
4. Right-click on Download Original. Then click Save As... from the drop-down menu.
   
   
   
   
5. Manually type the extension (.eml). Then click Save.
   
   
6. Your browser may ask you which extension you wish to use. Click on Use .eml.
